"The ground is spent. And out of it — these pale, ragged things, neither leaf nor bone, pushing up the way living things do when the conditions are finally right. The ground remembers the weight — boots, knees, hands. It has been worked hard — you can feel the pressure of it. Enough pressure to harden into something crystal-like."
The internal condition here is geological — pressure made visible. Warm brown and ochre ground, with pale lavender fragments that read like residue of force: crystallised, hardened, pushed to the surface. The Cyme medium recorded the weight of the process directly into the paper.
Original abstract work on paper. Made with Cyme — inimitable liquid material developed exclusively by the artist. Cyme has its own creative potential. What it produces on each surface is distinct — shaped by the nature of the material as much as by the surface that receives it.
